Lion Walk – Cintiq + TVPaint Pencil Test

This is the second pass on a recent TVPaint “pencil test”. This version has several more “in between” frames than the previous pass and is starting to show more polish.

I did this study using TVPaint software on my Wacom 24″ HD Cintiq.

This is just the first shot in a full scene I will be animating over the next few weeks. What do you think the lion is looking at? Stay tuned!

Hope you enjoy it.

A Day of Drawing with Glenn Vilppu

Today I had the pleasure of spending the day drawing from life at the Big Cat Habitat in Sarasota, FL with the legendary Glenn Vilppu. In case you are unfamiliar with Glenn’s work he literally wrote the book on drawing the figure from life. He is a master at capturing the essence of his subjects and his instructions on gesture and drawing from life are essential for any artist.

In fact, he was a regular guest instructor back at Disney Feature Animation. You can learn more about Glenn and his work on his WEBSITE.

We were able to sit down for a brief discussion on art while we were there.

My First Solo Show + Demo & Lecture At Ringling College of Art

In  early March, I was invited to be a guest of the Ringling College of Art & Design. While there I had my very first solo art show at the madeby Gallery. It was a huge success. I sold several paintings and prints and we had a packed house. It was awesome to get to exhibit my wildlife paintings and to meet people that seemed to enjoy them so much.
