Aaron breaks down animal locomotion very well in this course so that it is easy to understand. The updated course has great bonus material as well. He does the animation in TVPaint but would be easy to follow along in what ever program you are using.

I’ve learned so much from these tutorials. My walking, trotting and running creatures have gained body and weight. They now look like they could actually exist. Aaron is a great teacher, he not only shows you exactly how to animate and understand what you’re doing, but also adds tons of information you just wouldn’t easily find anywhere else. One issue with video tutorials in general is that you can’t ask questions – but in this case I found that I actually didn’t need to ask anything at all :)
