This is a course that comes out of the box and the work of charcoal in a large format is most interesting. AARON guides us step by step
and each step is well detailed. On the video we can feel that AARON loves this technique and this format. AARON masters digital painting with photoshop and procreate but he loves his pencils and paper and likes to get his hands dirty. An excellent course
of animal charcoal that I advise everyone to try. Thank you AARON
    for this demonstration.

I truly enjoyed drawing along with Aaron in this course.
I have worked in charcoal a lot – but not using these techniques, and I have to admit that I was a little freaked out when he said to rub charcoal ALL OVER my rough sketch! But I trusted the process and was not disappointed. With Aaron’s step-by-step method I was able to render a majestic lioness, which gave me the courage to tackle another big cat – this time a snow leopard.
I played the videos in the background while I drew so I had Aaron’s voice guiding and encouraging me throughout. His style is relaxed and conversational – it was like he was just ‘noodling’ there in the studio beside me.
I can confidently recommend this course

I have lost count of how many charcoal pieces I have created using the techniques that I learned when I took this course. Charcoal is a very fun and messy medium to work with and has become one of my favorites to work wIth since this course.

Wow! This is one of the most informative and enjoyable courses on charcoal drawing that I have seen! Aaron is an excellent artist and teacher! I just received this final products needed to begin this course and I can’t wait to begin! I have watched each lesson, prior to beginning any drawing of my own to try to gain the concept of why and where each building lesson will take me, and none of it was boring or tedious, it was simply fascinating to see it come into place as the true piece of art that it is! His direction and instruction is very clear and concise! I never thought I’d ever be interested in charcoal, this course has proven me completely wrong!

Beautiful art from a wonderful artist, you will not be disappointed with this course, I highly recommend!

An annual subscription was my Christmas gift to me — and one that has been full of fun, challenge and new ideas. I jumped into the lion charcoal drawing and was really happy with my results. I love the way Aaron explains the processes, because it helps me understand the “why” in technique and materials used that support the outcome. I did the charcoal lion tutorial with what I had on hand, Strathmore 14 x 17 drawing paper, not the mid-tone matboard Aaron used. As a result achieving the value range in the drawing was a little trickier, but I was still very, very happy with my results. I find if I watch the videos first so I understand the scope and scale of the work being demonstrated it helps to prepare me. Then I run the video and draw along, stopping the play as needed for coffee and wrangling my 2 studio assistants Sid and Eddie – my two rescue black cats. Working in charcoal was not a problem but they can track that stuff anywhere :-)
I don’t do work in the digital environment very much (yet), but find I glean lots of good stuff — even the animation videos challenge one’s basic drawing chops – in a good way! I have worked through some of the big cat drawing tutorials, and really appreciate the drawing from the skeletal frame out — I finally understood how a cat’s foot is structured through Aaron’s comparison of human body structure to animal structure. My aha moment was the “heel” on the big cats. The offerings on this website provide great inspiration and the relaxed and informative teaching style is stellar. Thanks again so very much!

This was a wonderful lesson, i highly recommend it. I had played around with charcoal before but I always had some difficulty getting good results as I was unclear about how best to use it. I learned a ton following along with this lesson, Aaron made it really easy to keep up. His communication/teaching style is very pleasant and engaging, and I was really happy with how my drawing turned out-Most importantly, I feel like I have some of the fundamentals down much better so that I can try some other drawings in charcoal, which I definitely plan to do.

One of my Christmas presents to myself – I had so much fun! Excellent course, Aaron. Working in charcoal was brand new to me, as well as working so large! Both were a delight. I’m done with the lion, and have started one of my own of a Bighorn Ram. I’m looking forward to doing more works in charcoal!
